ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY ////
Economic opportunity is both a means and end of development. It is the pursuit of fulfillment and beginning of independence. Building entrepreneurial capacity in developing communities empowers the local economies to begin climbing the commodity chain, spending locally, and achieving self-reliance. Our highly localized initiatives often produce first, second, and tertiary-order economic opportunities. For instance, our recycling and value recovery processes increase the accessibility and value of indigenous materials. We seek to identify and foster these opportunities. We do so in part by being active supporters of field building. We work within the philanthropic, social enterprise, global development community to help design financial sustainability into the activities and fundraising practices of our colleagues.
