Our resources are the fuels and feedstocks that power the engine of development. They enable the construction of our infrastructure, production of products, and provision of services. Our management of them has been defined by their impact on our environment and economy, limitations of their reuse and supply, and consequently, have come to define our capacity for growth and quality of life. We improve our use of resources by maximizing the breadth of harvestable resources through recycling. Our recycling and value recovery processes transform all waste sources into reusable commodities – reconstructing a health and environmental hazard into a source of indigenous raw materials. Several of our initiatives reduce the demand for nonrenewable resources. We also design to reduce the reliance on all external sources, such as electricity and water, by incorporating components like off-grid power solutions or water recycling to expand the local capacity for development by using it to introduce new functionality to areas without reliable access to resources.
